Created in 1956, the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry is an association of puppetry professionals, amateurs, enthusiasts and educators dedicated to sharing, promoting and advancing the art of puppetry throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. All you need to join is an interest in puppetry!

Guild/OrganizationPuppeteers of America

Puppeteers of America is a national non-profit organization founded in 1937 to provide information, encourage performances and build a community of people who celebrate puppet theatre. PofA has produced over 160 national and regional festivals to celebrate and share the art of puppetry. The organization publishes the quarterly magazine, The Puppetry Journal (link to Puppetry Journal). Founded in 1949, The Puppetry Journal provides a continuing chronicle of contemporary puppetry.

Our membership includes many full-time professional performers, theatre artists, film- and video-makers and animators, puppet sculptors and builders, plus educators, therapists, dedicated hobbyists, youth, and just plain fans.
Our regular quarterly meetings, held at various locations around the Bay Area, usually involve skills-building workshops and performances as well as informal conversation and socializing. We discuss Guild business, plan activities, and share news.
