Puppet Productions

My first throwback Thursday is Puppet Productions (1970-2009), but that company is no longer with us. The good news is their designs live on with Frontier Creations™ aka Puppets Inc.

Puppet Productions

This was the creator of my first “professional” puppet. I loved puppets as a kid, loved Sesame Street and the Muppets, and the small independent toy store down the street, sold “Children Puppets” which later became “Little People” from Puppet Productions. This Muppet Whatnot looking guy was covered in terry cloth, and had snaps for arm rod attachments.

At the time they had a book that discussed how to manipulate a puppet and featured Quimper’s Corner and some of their other scripts and designs. I used to spend hours reading through the book, and admiring the other puppets.

Over a decade later in the early 90’s my brother and I wanted puppets again, in the early days of the internet we found Puppet Productions, and ordered custom puppets, a blue Bernard and an old man. It was nice to see how they improved. A anti-pill fleece covering, detailed mouth, and better arm rods. They’ve continued to improved since the early 90’s adding David Pannabecker’s Handi-Sphere™ to the mouth plate and adding more designs.

Since the 70’s they also had a great interior lining, a big sock to line the puppeteer’s hand and interior, and great stitching. If you’re looking for an expensive but quality puppet, check out Puppet Production or David Pannabecker sold by Puppets Inc.

Thanks to archive.org you can see the old site, but really why? Now if you can help me find a copy of the book lets talk.
